Etsy fees, explained.
How Etsy's fees actually work, how to use the calculator, and how to price your listings so you keep a profit.
How much does Etsy take per sale?
Etsy takes several cuts on every order: a listing fee of about $0.20 per item, a 6.5% transaction fee on the order total (item price plus the shipping you charge), and a payment processing fee that depends on your country — for example 3% + $0.25 per order in the US. If the sale comes through Offsite Ads, Etsy also charges 12–15%, and a few countries add a small regulatory operating fee. The calculator above totals all of these for your location so you can see exactly what's left.
How do I calculate my Etsy fees and profit?
Enter your listing price, the shipping you charge the buyer, and your item cost, then choose your seller location. The calculator instantly breaks down every Etsy fee, your total cost, and your real take-home profit and margin — so you can adjust the price until the numbers work in your favour.
What is the Etsy transaction fee?
Etsy's transaction fee is 6.5% of the total order amount, which includes the item price plus any shipping and gift wrapping you charge. It is deducted automatically the moment an item sells.
What are Etsy payment processing fees?
Etsy Payments charges a processing fee that varies by the country your shop is based in — for example 3% + $0.25 per order in the United States, or 4% + £0.20 in the United Kingdom. The calculator applies the correct domestic (or international) processing fee for the location you select.
What are Etsy Offsite Ads fees?
When a buyer clicks one of Etsy's Offsite Ads and then buys from you, Etsy charges an advertising fee on that order — 15% for most shops, or 12% once you've made over $10,000 on Etsy in the past 365 days. Above that threshold Offsite Ads are mandatory. You can switch this fee on or off in the calculator.
Does Etsy charge a listing fee?
Yes. Etsy charges roughly $0.20 to publish a listing, and it renews every four months or each time the item sells. The calculator includes the listing fee in your total costs.
How should I price my products to stay profitable on Etsy?
Start from your true cost — materials, labor, and machine or overhead time — then add every Etsy fee and your shipping cost on top. Set the profit margin you want and let the calculator reveal the listing price you actually need. Pricing on material cost alone is the most common reason 3D-printing and handmade sellers quietly lose money on every sale.
