Free filament inventory spreadsheet.

Keep a record of your filament, from full spools to the usable material left in opened ones. The Excel template calculates available grams and cost per gram. A separate CSV starter helps you move new records into 3DPCC.

Free download. No account needed.

What to record in your filament tracker.

Use one row for each combination of brand, material, type, color, spool weight, and purchase price. Keep different prices or spool sizes in separate rows so their costs stay meaningful. The sample rows use real product names with illustrative quantities and purchase costs.

  • SKU and material details: a short reference, manufacturer, material, type, and color.
  • Net spool weight: the amount of filament in a full spool, in grams. Exclude the empty reel.
  • Full spools: the unopened spool count for that record.
  • In use: the total usable grams remaining in opened spools belonging to that record.
  • Purchase cost: the cost of one full spool in USD. The sheet divides it by the net spool weight to calculate cost per gram.

The workbook has 100 prepared rows, including three examples. Edit the amber input cells; the gray columns calculate available grams and cost per gram. If you add rows beyond the prepared area, copy both formulas into the new rows.

Count full spools and remaining filament together.

Eight full 1 kg spools and 620 g remaining in opened spools give you 8,620 g, or 8.62 kg, of usable material.

Available grams = full-spool count × net spool weight + grams in use

FilamentFull spoolsIn useAvailable
Bambu Lab PLA Basic · Blue8 × 1 kg620 g8.62 kg
Prusament PLA · Prusa Orange6 × 1 kg350 g6.35 kg
Bambu Lab PLA Matte · Scarlet Red5 × 1 kg780 g5.78 kg

When you open one of the eight full spools, reduce the full-spool count to seven and add its 1,000 g to In use. Available stays at 8.62 kg. After using 120 g, reduce In use from 1,620 g to 1,500 g; Available becomes 8.50 kg.

Keep the physical spools in mind too. A combined 600 g spread across several opened spools does not mean one spool holds enough for a continuous 500 g print.

Keep the spreadsheet useful between jobs.

  1. Start with a stock count. Record the materials you own and weigh opened spools. Subtract the empty reel weight to find usable filament.
  2. Update purchases and opened spools. Add unopened purchases to Full spools. Move material into In use when you open a spool, without counting it in both places.
  3. Update remaining grams after printing. Include material used by supports, purge, and failed prints. A fresh weight can help correct a record that has drifted from the physical stock.
  4. Check the exact material before promising a job. Confirm the requested color and enough usable filament, then use its saved cost when pricing the work.

Import new filament records into 3DPCC.

The Excel tracker is for working in a spreadsheet. The separate CSV starter uses the column names accepted by the app’s filament importer. Download it, replace the sample rows, and save it as a comma-separated CSV file.

CSV columnWhat to enter
manufacturer, materialFill both fields. For example, Bambu Lab and PLA.
weight, price, currencyNet grams per full spool, its purchase price, and a currency code such as USD. Use plain numbers, without currency symbols.
stock, in_use_gA whole-number count of full spools and the remaining usable grams in opened spools. Use 0 when there is none.
sku, type, color_name, color_hexYour reference, filament type, color name, and a hex swatch such as #0A2989.
idLeave blank when adding new records. To update records already in the app, export them first and preserve their existing IDs.

In PRO, open Filaments, choose Import CSV, and review the proposed changes before confirming. Importing the same rows again with blank IDs creates new records, so use the app’s export when you want to update existing inventory.

The spreadsheet’s Available and Cost per gram columns are calculated results. They are not needed in the import CSV. 3DPCC calculates those figures from the stock, weight, remaining grams, and price you provide.

Filament spreadsheet questions.

Can I use the filament inventory spreadsheet for free?

Yes. Download and use the files without an account. They work independently of 3DPCC. Saving your own filament inventory in the app and importing CSV files require PRO.

Does In use mean grams already consumed?

No. In this template and in 3DPCC’s available-stock calculation, In use is the usable material remaining in opened spools. Reduce it as you use filament. Already consumed material is no longer available stock.

Does the spreadsheet connect to my printer or AMS?

No. Update the records as you buy, open, and use material. The formulas calculate from the figures you enter; they do not read printer activity.

Can I use Excel or Google Sheets?

Open the Excel workbook directly in Excel, or import it into Google Sheets. For 3DPCC, use the separate CSV starter and keep its column headers. The app imports CSV files, not Excel workbooks.

Use your stock records when pricing the next job.

When you want your materials available alongside quotes and orders, 3DPCC’s filament inventory software keeps stock and purchase costs in your business workspace. Select a saved material when you prepare a customer quote, instead of entering its cost again.
